With more than ten years dedicated to neurosurgery for connective tissue disorders, we are proud to announce that Dr. Vicenç Gilete — Medical Director of PromoHealth and Gilete Neurosurgery & Spine Surgery — has earned the HMX Pro Certificate in Immunology: Novel Therapies for Chronic Inflammation, Autoimmunity, and Allergy, awarded by Harvard Medical School.
This expanded expertise, combined with his clinical and research background, helps us probe the biological factors that can influence or worsen mechanical conditions such as cranio-cervical instability or tethered cord syndrome. Our aim is to deliver earlier and more accurate diagnoses, enhance patient outcomes, and, whenever feasible, avoid invasive surgeries.
In daily practice, we’re seeing a growing number of patients with chronic inflammatory and immune-mediated diseases — many without a defined genetic connective tissue disorder but with overlapping symptoms and comorbidities (e.g., ME/CFS, Lyme disease, or post-COVID syndrome). To address them, we’ve added biomarker panels for inflammation, autoimmunity, and autonomic dysfunction and are evaluating treatments with immune checkpoint modulators. We always combine a biological and mechanical approach to tailor the most effective surgical or non-surgical plan for each patient.
